Data Center Capacity

Northern Virginia is home to 2x the data center capacity under construction than the next largest metropolitan area. While Virginia is not synonymous with the AI theme yet, it is the place with the most data center capacity in the US. It also sees about 70% of global internet traffic flow through the region every day. This is because the organization that funded and created the internet, the US Department of Defense, is based in Northern Virginia. This legacy, as well as low-cost power, low taxes, and relatively few natural disasters make it an attractive hub for data centers.
