This shows how strong the algorithm is in driving user attention on the platform. Youtube’s winners are children’s channels, which have high affinity and can tap into a kids’ desire to watch the same content over-and-over again.

On a platform, such as Instagram, where the attention is drawn to the most-followed accounts, the top accounts are owned by the most famous people.

This is in contrast to TikTok, where only 2 of the top 10 accounts (based on interactions) would be considered “famous” before the TikTok algorithm promoted them.
